Galileo Vs Authority Design and Sale

Galileo was all too familiar with what can happen when reason and evidence are suppressed by authorities who want to control our perceptions of truth. Science cannot truly flourish and real progress cannot be made unless such authorities are challenged when they stand in the way. This design celebrating Galileo’s achievements and his rebellious nature is one of many available in our online store. Everything is now on sale to commemorate the anniversary of his sentencing —> http://punkrockscientist.storenvy.com/

And if you’d like to learn more about Galileo’s discoveries and his scientific drawings (some of which are featured in this design) then check out this post.

Design Release – Giordano Bruno and Truth vs The Majority

Giordano Bruno was born in 1548, and burned at the stake by the Inquisition in 1600 for believing, among other things, that the earth is not the center of the universe and that the sun is just another star among countless stars. His story was featured in the new Cosmos series with Neil Degrasse Tyson. See our latest post with an extended quote from Bruno on the universe here. This design is now available in our online store.

Design Release – “Does the moon also fall?” Isaac Newton

Isaac Newton was born on December 25th, 1642. He made numerous contributions to science throughout his life, including discovering the laws of motion and inventing calculus. The story of his witnessing a falling apple and wondering “Does the moon also fall?” is well known. Realizing that the same force that makes apples fall might be holding the moon in orbit was just the beginning of Newton’s work on gravity and the laws of motion. This design features a page of notes and equations taken straight from Newton’s extensive papers, which are available from the University of Cambridge Digital Library. Available now in our online store!
