Discovering King Tut’s Tomb

On this day in 1922 archaeologists discovered the entrance to the tomb of ancient Egyptian pharaoh Tutankhamun, commonly known as King Tut. Thousands of artifacts were subsequently removed from the tomb, including a meteorite dagger and Tut’s golden coffin and burial mask. More discoveries about the tomb are still taking place today, and recent scans showed that there may be two unopened chambers behind the walls of the tomb that contain organic and metal objects.
