Michael Faraday’s Birthday

“It is right that we should stand by and act on our principles; but not right to hold them in obstinate blindness, or retain them when proved to be erroneous.” Michael Faraday was born on this day in 1791. He made many discoveries in chemistry and physics and is best known for his work with electricity and magnetism. He inspired interest in science from the public with a series of lectures he gave to young people in the 1800’s. The tradition of these lectures still continues to this day at the Royal Institution in London, and scientists like Richard Dawkins, Carl Sagan, and David Attenborough have taken part.
